What are the burn times for your candles?
Candle Tin = Approximately 50+ Hours
Amber Glass Jar = Approximately 60+ Hours
Are your candles really non-toxic, vegan & cruelty-free?
YES! First, we do not use any animal products in our candles, we do not test our candles on animals, and do not work with any companies who utilize animal testing. It's just plain wrong! Second, we use 100% premium vegan soy wax. Never dyed. Third, the dried herbs and flowers we blend into our Botanical Wax are all 100% certified organic. We use only the best of everything. Fourth, our wicks are made of all natural cotton fibers. Completely lead-free. Finally, all of the essential fragrance oils we use are phthalate free. At Tenth Street Candle Co. we work hard to make the best candles possible because we care about what we're making.
Do you offer care instructions?
The first time you burn your new candle plays a key role in its longevity. Upon lighting it, keep your candle burning until the melt pool reaches the edge of the container and is approximately 1/4" deep.
For each consecutive burn, always allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the container before extinguishing. This will prevent tunneling and increase your candle's scent throw.
The best burn duration is approximately 3 1/2 to 4 hours
Keep your wick trimmed to 1/4”
Always place lit candles on a stable, heat-resistant flat surface and away from drafts, vents, ceiling fans and air currents
Keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Can I reuse the jar onCe I've finished my candles?
Of course! Because we use soy wax, it's very easy to clean and then reuse or recycle your containers. Once you're done with your candle, you can use a hair dryer to remove the last bits of wax. Pour the melted wax into a paper cup or onto a paper plate and throw it away with the base of the wick. DO NOT pour it down your sink as wax can clog your pipes. Then, simply clean out the container with warm water and soap. That's it!
Why does my candle have a "Wet Spot"?
The "wet spots" that you see are not actually wet spots at all. Soy wax pulls away from the glass container forming a small air bubble when either the candle has cooled too quickly or has had a drastic temperature change. It can sometimes occur during shipment because of sudden weather changes, but in no way changes the life, quality, burn time, or scent of the candle. Although paraffin wax or soy wax with additives are less likely to have these wet spots occur, you'll see them on candle jars in retailers everywhere from Pottery Barn to Henry Bendels.
Why does my candle have a whitish film or "frosting"?
Temperatures change the chemical state of pure soy wax, causing variations in the moisture content and texture of the wax as it cools. This state change can lead to "frosting", or a growth of vegetable oil crystals. Frosting is a unique characteristic of soy wax, but it in no way changes the life, quality, burn time, or scent of the candle. It also disappears once the wax has melted. So, if you see frosting, just be reassured that you’re getting a pure soy candle.
